This is a practical guide for anyone booking a boiler service in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme or the towns around them. It covers where we go, what it costs, and the local details that decide whether a visit takes an hour or turns into a return trip. With the heating about to go on across the area, it is worth having everything ready now.

Which areas do we cover for boiler servicing?

We service boilers across the whole of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, and out to the surrounding towns in north Staffordshire. That takes in the six Potteries towns, Newcastle and its villages, and the towns to the north, south and east of the city. Our base is at Somerley Road in Stoke-on-Trent, so most addresses are a short drive away.

We also work further out across Staffordshire, south Cheshire and Derbyshire. If your town is not listed here, ask when you call.

How much is a boiler service in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke?

A standard annual boiler service is £90 including VAT, whether you are in Hanley, Wolstanton or Stone. If your boiler is due a more thorough service under the manufacturer's guidance, an intermediate service is £124.99 and a full strip-down service is £225. The engineer will tell you before starting if anything beyond a standard service is recommended.

If the engineer finds a fault that needs a repair, that is quoted separately so you can decide before any work goes ahead. Repair work is charged at £90 per hour.

How do you book a boiler service?

Call 07896 677083 between 9am and 5pm, seven days a week. When you ring, we will ask for your address, the boiler make and model, when it was last serviced, and whether it has shown any faults. With that we can allow the right amount of time and bring any parts likely to be needed.

If you are a landlord or letting agent booking several properties across the area, give us the full list at once. Grouping addresses that are close together makes it easier to fit them in on the same day.

Booking for a parent or relative

Plenty of services are booked by someone on behalf of an older relative. That is fine. Give us your number as well as theirs, tell us if they are hard of hearing or slow to reach the door, and let us know who will be there to let the engineer in. If you cannot be present, ask the engineer to ring you afterwards to go through what was found, so nothing gets lost in translation.

What local details should you tell us about?

Housing across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle ranges from Victorian terraces to post-war semis and newer estates, and each brings its own access quirks. Mentioning these when you book saves time on the day:

  • Parking: on tight terraced streets, a note about where an engineer can stop is genuinely useful.
  • Loft boilers: common in converted terraces and some newer homes. There needs to be a fixed or safe ladder, lighting and boarded access to the boiler.
  • External meter boxes: if yours is locked, have the key ready, as the engineer may need to check gas pressures at the meter.
  • Flue position: if the flue comes out into a narrow passage or close to a neighbour's window, say so. The engineer will need to see the terminal outside.
  • Hot water problems: the water across Stoke-on-Trent is hard, and limescale is a common reason combi hot water becomes slow or fluctuates. If you have noticed this, mention it.
  • Condensate pipe: if it runs a long way along an outside wall, mention any past freezing problems.

What happens when the engineer arrives?

A standard service usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. The engineer checks the boiler is operating safely, cleans and inspects the key components, measures the flue gases, checks the pressures and the condensate route, and records everything. You will be told about anything that needs attention and why.

For the full list of what should be covered, see our boiler service checklist. Every engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card, which you are welcome to check against the Gas Safe Register.

When is the best time to book before winter?

Now. Late September is the last point where there is still some breathing room in the diary before the first cold spell. Once the heating goes on across the city in October, breakdown calls take priority over routine work, so services booked then can take longer to fit in.

If the boiler is already showing a fault, do not wait for the service. Tell us when you book so the visit can be arranged as a repair instead.

Booking your boiler service locally

Whether you are in the middle of Hanley or out towards Silverdale, the booking process and the £90 price are the same. Have your boiler details and access sorted, give us a call on 07896 677083, and we will find a time that suits you before the colder weather arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Which boiler makes do you service?

We service most domestic gas boiler makes found in local homes, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi and Navien, along with many older models. If your boiler is an unusual or very old make, mention it when you book so the engineer can check parts availability in advance.

Can I get a boiler service at the weekend?

We are open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, so weekend appointments are possible. They tend to go quickly in autumn, so if you can only do a Saturday or Sunday, book as early as you can and give us more than one date that would work.

Will I get paperwork after the service?

Yes. The engineer records the service, including the combustion readings and any issues found, and completes the service record in your boiler manual where there is one. Keep this safe, as manufacturers usually ask for proof of servicing if you need to make a warranty claim.
