Who we are
This website is run by Abdul Dar, trading as Gasmaster Plumbing & Heating (Gas Safe registration 220932). For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect and why
When you contact us or ask for a quote
Our contact, quote, availability and booking forms ask for your name, phone number and email address, and depending on the form your address or postcode, the service you need, a preferred date and any details you choose to type in. When a form is sent, our website also records the IP address it came from and the page you were on, to help us stop spam and abuse.
We use this to reply to you, give you a price, arrange and carry out the work, and keep a record of what we did. If you phone, email or message us directly, we use the details you give us in the same way.
When we do work for you
If you become a customer we keep your name, contact details, the address of the property, details of the appliances and the work carried out, gas safety records and certificates, and invoice and payment records.
When you browse the website
Like almost every website, our server keeps short-term technical logs (IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time). Our security software uses these to block attacks. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also collects information about how you use the site — see our cookie policy. If you don’t accept, Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
Our legal reasons for using your information
- To answer your enquiry and do the job you ask for — because it is needed to take steps you have asked for before a contract, and to carry out that contract.
- To meet our legal obligations — for example keeping gas safety records and tax and accounting records.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping the website secure, preventing spam and fraud, and dealing with any complaint or warranty claim.
- Your consent — for analytics cookies only. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
We do not send marketing emails or texts, we do not sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where we need to, with:
- Our website host and email provider, who store the website, its form submissions and our email on our behalf.
- TradeHelp, if you use the instant boiler quote tool on our boiler quote page. The details you enter into that tool are sent to TradeHelp to produce your quote, under their own privacy policy.
- Google, for website analytics — only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Manufacturers, where you ask us to register a new boiler or appliance for its warranty.
- Our accountant, HMRC, Gas Safe Register or other authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store data outside the UK (for example in the European Economic Area or the United States). Where that happens the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the standard contractual safeguards that UK law requires.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to any work: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Customer records, invoices and job records: 6 years after the last job, to meet tax rules and deal with any warranty or insurance claim.
- Gas safety records and certificates: at least as long as gas safety law requires, and for as long as they are relevant to the property.
- Server and security logs: normally a few weeks.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to us using it. Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights have exceptions — for example we cannot delete records the law says we must keep — and we will explain if one applies.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
